History around us!

Mościejewo has also very rich historic background so today I decided to make a trip and find traces of the past ages in Mościejewo. We can read in the 15th century Nałęcz' Book that first appearance of name "Mościejewo" was mentioned in 1412!!! In 19th century whole Greater Poland Voivodeship was a part of the German Empire, then Mościejewo was named "DreiMühlen" witch means "Three mills" because accualy there were three of them, first was near present natural reserve ( I was there in previosus trip). It's time to find another one, so I got my motorbike and went (of course threw the beautiful landscapes) to heart of religious cult of Mościejewo - Place known as "Grota" (it means grotto). I go past Stanley Bridge where there was a second mill and I was in grotto.



"Grota" and Mościejewo are located by Greater Poland's Uprising's Trail. Greater Poland's Uprising was an military action in 1918-1919 against Germans to got independence and join our region to Poland. Many citizens of Mościejewo took part of it. John Bury - insurgent, build this grotto with Mother of God statue as thanks for heal his wife. Every day "Grota" is visited by many people to pray. I did the same.





Many of Mościejowo's insurgents are resting on our cementery. My grand grandfather was also one of the insurgents. Every insurgent has a plaque at his grave marking it. On our cmentery rests our former priest Joshep Wartecki - soldier in Word War II. I knew him so it was time for a pray. 






Surely, I mentioned about former owner of Mościejewo Colonel Konstanty Chłapowski. He was an insurgent too, moreover he was a commander of the front. He was endower of our church and he live in beautiful palace located in park with a pond, opposite the church. He was also a commander of the militia in Poznań. Colonel Chłapowski unfortunately was killed by the Nazis in 1939.



World War II came to end and Poland became a communist state. In former owner's assets there was created the PGR ( national farm) where in 19th centaury was located third mill. Thanks God communism is a past and Mościejewo's citizens can can be completely happy with a peaceful life on the moraine hills.

Nature of Mościejewo

Today, I want to explore nature world of Mościejewo. This day I had a trip mate - my dog Jeckie (seriously I'm sure that you've never met as stupid dog as mine). Our first stop was Saint Antony monument - time to pray. Then I sow IT AGAIN - Moraine Hills of Mościejewo. Just look. Amazing! The most beatiful lanscape ever! But today I was interested in famous Mościejewo's Gorges - the place of sources where we can see pure nature without peoples disturbing , brooks, fallen threes and wild animals. Waters of brooks furrowed huge recess and that's how gorges was created. Just take a look. In the end of the gorge begins pride of Mościejewo - our fish ponds. Our fisherman are famous from huge, beautiful carps. There are so many local receipts. Carps from our pond are the most common before Christmas. Church time !!!

Mościejewo's society contains 99,8% Catholics, so at Sunday morning everyone goes to the church. I did obviously the same. I went down threw the Mościejewo's Valley. I came to church territory. Just look what a charming place is it : Liturgy was just amazing. There were so many sublime thoughts. I was mulling about my future, about sense of existence .... I recommend you trip to our church and listen to our brilliant priest Jarek Foltyniewicz speeches.  Something about history. church was a private chapel of former owner of Mościejewo Colonel Konstanty Chłapowski. He rebuild it and endow it for a Mościejewo's community witch was made in 1924. In church there are commemorative plaques dedicated to Colonel Chłapowski, antique electronic organs from 1984, picture of Mother of God endowed by famous singer Eleni. Moraine Hills

Today, I felt little temptation to see the famous Moraine Hills. I resist it, so on early morning I left my home, stopped because I was praying by the Saint Antony monument near my house. Then I turned into nearest stone path. I followed this path and delighted in the voices of nature : bird's songs and wind's rustle. Suddenly I sow this: Look at this magnificent views. Charming Mościejewo's Valley on the left, small ponds in the bottom, immensity of forests and fuzzy fields and villages in the background. I can die here! I can do everything for this landscape. In time of harmony and thoughtfulness is good to do some exercises, so I decided to practice a local martial art "Kalafiok" (also known as "Wklepiok" in western part of Mościejewo). It was a great time. maybe I will sleep here. Don't be afraid. You can be sure that I'll write next post soon. Bye.
